With another year wrapped up we can begin planning our dream SUP destinations for 2020. Having a look through the photos you shared in 2019 provided us with all types of inspiration to make it somewhere we haven’t been. How do they look to you? Is there a dream stand up paddle destination you’d like to add? When you do make it there (wherever that may be), make sure to tag us at #thursosurf 📸on Instagram. Until then, have a look at some of last year’s top posts to help you figure out where you’d like to go in 2020!

What destinations will you SUP in 2020?

These are just a few of the amazing pics paddlers shared with us last year. From hemisphere to hemisphere and across continents, truly our paddlers and these destinations are from all around the world. One of the greatest things about inflatable SUPs is that they’re built for travel. From local paddle trips to jet-setting to far off lands, if there’s a will, there’s a way. Set the bar high this year and see where you end up. Pick somewhere you’ve never paddled, near or far and get out and explore. And best of all, it’s still tons of fun keeping it local because, if you discover a new spot, you can go back again and again!

Dream SUP Destinations for 2020

Man paddles Thurso Surf Waterwalker All-Around SUP in blue waters of Greece
Naxos, Greece – @tiagorchaves

This particular shot is from Naxos, one of the larger islands in the Aegean Sea. Those perfectly clear, bright blue waters of this destination certainly look inviting. And, the surrounding landscape and multiple neighboring islands are a sight to see on their own… not to mention there’s nothing like finishing the day off with a delicious meal at one of the many seaside cafes.

Yosemite National Park, California – @roving_kids

Yosemite National Park and its famous peak, Half Dome, are captured here in the background. The Merced River looks like a spectacular SUP destination to paddle… or in this case, to have some paddle for you. 😜 Shout out to our junior paddlers! Even if you can’t make it to Yosemite, the U.S. has loads of other national parks to choose from. Which are nearest to you?

City skyline captured from Thurso Surf Expedition Touring SUP
Toronto, Canada – @gotbike2

Stand up paddleboarding is a great way to tour the city. Paddling harbors, canals, rivers, etc. can provide you with a unique perspective of any city. You may even end up with a great pic like this one of Toronto’s skyline. What other cities would you like to paddle?

Loch Assynt, Scotland – @em_ross__

We haven’t had any pics of Nessy (The Loch Ness Monster) shared with us yet, but this pic certainly makes Scotland look like a great destination to check out. From its rugged coastline, to its countless inland bodies of water, there are lots of options for stand up paddle boarding.

Woman paddles marina in Italy on Thurso Surf Waterwalker All-Around SUP
Portofino, Italy – @claudia__ciocca

A different type of city skyline lures us over to our next destination Portofino, Italy. Cruising along the inner harbors and marinas looks like a great way to check out the sailboats while taking in the colorful cityscapes of the small towns found on Italy’s coast.

British Columbia, Canada – @sammysgrammin

British Columbia has an enormous variety of dream stand up paddleboarding destinations. Because of that variety there’s so much to explore, making it the perfect destination for road trips. From it’s glacial lakes to its scenic coast and islands, there are countless options. If you’re willing, there are some great hikes where it’s worth taking your iSUP with you. What’s the highest elevation you’ve paddleboarded?

Last, but certainly not least are the Bahamas. This chain of islands is truly something special. If you make it to this dream SUP destination, you’ll be awarded with warm waters and white sand beaches. Plus, if you’re lucky, you’ll get to see some spectacular sea life as well. 🐢🐬🐠 It’s even worth bringing some snorkeling gear along on deck with you so you can jump in and check out what you’re paddling over close up.

What destinations will you SUP in 2020?

There’s a starter list to get your gears turning, but even within those 7 options there’s a lot to choose from. Maybe you’ll find your new favorite spot to SUP or even a few others you’d like to get to. Once you’ve drawn up your plans, share how you SUP with #thursosurf to be featured! We look forward to another great year of paddling in 2020 and can’t wait to see what you get up to this time around!
