Frequently Asked Questions
The paddle board model best suited for you depends on your needs and location. Most paddlers looking for leisure go for all-around paddle boards, but for families and friends, a multi-person paddle board would be the best. The sizing chart will indicate the capacity of the rider(s) if you're worried about exceeding the weight limit.
Yes! THURSO SURF iSUP boards are designed with double layers of PVC, so they are extremely durable and can handle heavy usage. iSUPs are known to be more durable than wood paddle boards, and are also more portable and storable.
You can inflate your SUP using any one of our electric or hand-pump pumps designed specifically for inflating our line of iSUPs.
Our paddle boards have different features curated for different uses so you can get the most optimal experience out of them. For example, our yoga paddle board features a softer deck, our junior paddle boards are wider and more stable for children, and our touring paddle boards can cut through waters effortlessly.
There is a 2 Year Manufacturer Limited Warranty on all inflatable paddle boards (iSUPs) from date of purchase. We guarantee against any abnormal defect in workmanship and materials within this period.
Find a calm body of water such as a lake or bay as less waves = easier to balance. Most people like to start on their knees to get the feel for paddling and once comfortable, start standing up. The key is to not rush and take your time learning the correct strokes using guides or helpful tips.
The Thurso Max (300 lb capacity, 34in wide) comfortably supports two adults paddling together or one adult with a child seated at the front. Exceeding the weight capacity reduces stability and risks damaging the board. For three or more people, multiple boards are recommended.
Tandem paddling is harder than solo — both riders need to coordinate their balance and paddling. Kneeling is easier than standing for beginners paddling together. Choose calm, flat water for your first tandem sessions and communicate about strokes and weight shifts.
The heavier or more experienced paddler should stand at the rear (tail) to control steering. The second person kneels or stands at the front. Both paddle on opposite sides simultaneously for the most efficient forward drive. The rear paddler sets the pace and steers with a sweep stroke.
Yes. An adult-child combo is very manageable on a Waterwalker 132 or the Max. The child can sit or kneel at the nose while the adult stands and paddles. Combined weight must stay within the board's rated capacity. Always fit the child with a life jacket.
A minimum of 32 inches wide is recommended for tandem paddling. The Max at 34 inches is the most stable Thurso option for two adults. Narrower boards are possible for an adult-child combination but less forgiving of weight shifts.
