How Do I Choose a Paddle?
To start, adjustable paddles are great for beginners trying to find what feels comfortable, sharing between family members or friends, and changing paddling styles based on the paddle length. They offer more transportability than 1 piece SUP paddles. However, a fixed length paddle may be better for experienced paddlers who want precision and efficiency, as the paddle length is customized and can't be changed.
When choosing an adjustable paddle, weight and performance are all deciding factors. For beginners, young paddlers and those who just want a relaxing time on the water, a lighter SUP paddle may be more suitable. A slitted paddle is also a very versatile choice and can upgrade the experience of any paddler.
How Long Should the Paddle Board Paddle be?
An adjustable paddle is versatile in the fact that you can choose different paddle lengths for different activities. For recreation, touring, and surfing, you generally want the SUP paddle to be a few inches above your height; whereas for racing, you want to keep the paddle board paddle at your height.
