Drop Stitch Tecido

FAQs

The Expedition 150 is best for taller riders, heavier paddlers within its recommended range, and anyone who wants maximum glide for long-distance flatwater touring. It also makes more sense than an 11'6 board when you regularly carry extra gear for longer outings.
No, not as the best fit. While it is a high-volume touring board, a 150 kg rider is well above its recommended rider range, so stability and performance will suffer. For that load, a board like the Max or Orca is the safer choice.
A touring SUP is longer and shaped to hold a straighter line, which gives better glide and efficiency over distance. An all-around paddle board feels more versatile for casual mixed use, while the Expedition 150 is clearly the better tool for distance, tracking, and carrying touring gear.

Great board

I weigh 220lbs and took a 90lbs Weimaraner out with me. We did great and was able to maneuver easily.

Great value, but company can use more attention to detail.

Impressive package, full of features. Love the storage bag. But, major disappointment #1. wrong fin was shipped. After driving to launch, taking my time setting it up, the final step of the fin insertion was impossible. fin was too big. Thankfully they are making it right shipping me a new one, but order picking accuracy shouldn't be an unsolved problem for a mature company. Disappointment #2: obviously the instructions were written by a non-english speaker, or ran through a poor translator, making the first impression a bit like unboxing chinese knockoffs from amazon. These are both very very easy fixes. I look forward to trying the board out, after i get the right fin.

Stable, sturdy, tracks well.

At its price point, our Thurso Expedition 150 compares favorably against the excellent (but more expensive) BOTE LowRider boards we also use.

The well balanced OAP!

Was a little worried about buying an intermediate board, but was fine. I’m 67, have been on the board standing first time out. I do yoga and Tai Chi and some kayaking. Board seems fast and responsive. I’m looking forward to the future with it and heading out on The Norfolk Broads as I get more proficient. Great board and very happy with it 😁

Great board

I was worried about stability but the board handles extremely well in waves, perfect

Stable to the point of boring :o)

This is a review for a 4.7 inch thick board. I normally paddle a 28" wide Nixy Manhattan, which never lets you relax, as it has very little primary stability. The Thurso Expedition 150 is incredibly stable, including in wind gusts and moderate chop, relatively fast [slower than a hardboard or the Manhattan, but much more satisfying than an all-purpose board], and surprisingly maneuverable for a board this wide and long. Safe and stable enough for a beginner, and not too boring for an intermediate paddler. Very suitable for long distance paddling, easy on your feet, would give you a workout if you want to paddle harder, but mostly allowes you to feel super safe and comfortable in pretty much any conditions aside from extreme weather. Highly recommend! I'm 5.1, 140 pounds, and 56 yrs old, as a reference.

It's my first board

It's my first board, and while I may be a beginner (not an ablaut one, though) I found it impressively sized, robust, stable, pretty fast too, easy to control. Used it in tandem too, two adults or one adult & a child. I'm happy indeed.

I'm not so sure about those D-rings... used the board also with the kayak seat and the D-rings didn't give up but they don't look as new after the first use.

Great board for the money

Very stable paddle with reasonable speed. Use it a few times a week in Costa Rica. I wish I would have bought two so I could give one to a friend.

Expedition 150 Touring SUP

Very happy with my new board. This is my first inflatable.
I have paddled a few inflatables before and not liked the feel of them.
My trial float on this board was in Lake Ontario in three foot plus waves. I was very impressed and surprised with the stiffness and performance of the board.

Great value

My 3rd isup. Paid half as much and like it way better than the other two touring boards I bought and sold. Stable enough and fast enough for what I need. Amazing board for the price.

Go with Thurso

When making my first sup purchases I bought my wife a Walter walker and bought myself a touring board from another well marketed brand. After riding both boards I was disappointed how much better my wife’s water walker performed than my other brand purchase. The kit from third is superior to others and is at a lower price. The boards are stiffer and higher performing. This led me to buy an Expedition 150 and sell my other brand board. If you are on the fence, go with Thurso. Their boards and paddles offer performance and value that cannot be beat.

Nice quality and shape. But why white?!

I chose this board because the size, specs and price matched what I wanted. It performs as expected, nice firm board that tracks well. But why would you choose to even make an all white board? With faux wood trim?! I thought I could get used to the aesthetic with time but it actually detracts from the enjoyment of this board every time I use it. The white foam mat stains so easily and for a piece of gear that out in water, grass, mud, gravel, goose poop it is the worst choice possible. If there was any other color to choose from I would have chosen it. Please please make some different color choices for the next iteration, it's otherwise such a nice board. But it's so ugly it makes me sad

New to SUP, not new to paddling

I love all the tie down options and it's modest weight. The battery pump is handy. Not too narrow for this beginner. The handle on the board doesn't seem to be centered though; it doesn't carry level which can be annoying. I like that it comes with a GoPro mount. The carrying backpack is really too big and clumsy, and while I understand it isn't a wilderness pack, I was hoping to be able to access more remote lakes that were maybe a mile or so up a trail. It would be severely uncomfortable if carrying further than say, through the airport, but that's what the wheels are for.

Good Touring Board

Good touring board. I bought it to upgrade from an all-around 10’6” x 32 board. I read a few online reviews that say this board lacks stability but that wasn’t my experience. I was able to stand on this board right away and didn’t notice much difference from the other board. I was paddling at a lake with motor boats and this board handled the waves pretty well.
This board is faster than an all-around board and feels more rigid.
Customer service was ok. UPS lost the first package and it was replaced within a reasonable time frame.

The fin installation and removal require it to be pushed in and pulled out which is difficult to do. The clip version is much easier to use, which I wish it had.

Looks 3

Haven’t had a chance to use it yet, going to Hawaii with another couple. Bought it because the hubby had a board and said it was great fun, said him and I could just paddle out on the same board. I said that’s not going to happen, just wouldn’t be right, so I bought this one after a lot of research and will give it a go in a couple weeks.
