SUP Explorer – Long Key State Park
Long Key State Park and the surrounding waters allow you to explore “the real Florida Keys.” You’ll be able to explore undisturbed shorelines and protected wetlands. You can paddle from the boat launch inside the park entrance through a mangrove river/lake and along the natural shoreline. Or, take your boards over to the beach side of the park and explore the open waters of the Atlantic. You’ll see lots of birds and will likely spot some fish too (watch out for jellyfish though!). Entry fees are $4.50 per person (with discounts as you add more people). There’s plenty of parking; however, if you decide to paddle the river/lake, you’ll need to drop your boards near the ranger station, then park the car and walk back to them. If you park at the beach, you’ll park next to the water and paddle from there. The park has clean restrooms, a campground (tent only while the RV camp is being repaired), and a nice walking trail.
